Graphic design is an art of organising imagery, type and space, to visually communicate an idea or message. Graphic design is everywhere, in the streets, in our homes (just open the fridge for example - all the labels you see on the food packaging is graphic design!), on all sorts of different objects in a form of a logo, symbol, layout... this just goes to show how important graphic design is, not just for our lives, but for the success of any business. Getting it right is crucial.
